Hello, my name is Aurélien Mazurie (here is some help about the pronunciation). I am a biologist with a dual training in computer science, specialized in bioinformatics and systems biology. I obtained a Ph.D. in computational and molecular biology in 2005. You can find my curriculum vitæ here. However, below is a summary of my demonstrated skills and abilities. In a nutshell, I can
- Design and conduct innovative research projects, and publish papers in leading journals that scientists actually read and cite, recommend and invite me to present.
- Write, and help writing proposals to fund these projects.
- Teach various classes and organize workshops on topic ranging from pure biology to bioinformatics and computer programming.
- Implement complex data analysis pipelines on various computer architectures (desktop machines, clusters, clouds) using modern programming languages and techniques.
- Create bioinformatics tools that other researchers can actually use and adapt to their needs (see my repositories on GitHub).
- Borrow state of the art methods from statistics and machine learning and apply them to biological questions.
- Collaborate with specialists from various fields (applied and discreet mathematics, computer science, chemistry, ecology) and contribute to interdisciplinary projects.
- Provide my expertise in bioinformatics and systems biology to experimentalists to plan research projects, formulate testable hypotheses and devise strategies to assess them.
- Work anywhere in the USA and in Europe thanks to my green card and my European citizenship.
